My passion for fitness came in high school after wrestling for several years, I fell in love with staying in shape. After years of thinking I could just train myself, I decided to take Ace Certifications to make sure I was training properly and optimizing my fitness. That led me down a path where I started writing my own workouts to see what worked. I tried them with a group of friends every Friday for several years. It started as a text group and then grew into a Facebook group as well. I was doing these workouts at Life Time Fitness for years and got to become friends with some great trainers there. After doing that for years, Life Time asked if I would teach some of the classes I was taking. To be honest, I only took the job as a hobby because I loved all the people there and wanted to keep the group together. I taught speed, agility, strength conditioning, functional fitness, and basic weightlifting classes there. I specifically programmed my classes for sports and drew a good following of adults who continued to stay active in sports or activities after high school. Once I started going to Hiit Squad, I fell in love with the programming and use it as my primary program now. It has everything I am looking for. Bodybuilding, strength, functional fitness, and conditioning. The vibe is gritty, the music is loud, and the community is super supportive. I learn a lot from the other coaches there and we all help each other grow. I love coaching the classes as the clientele all have the passion to get a little better each day. The intensity is contagious and I love it when someone figures out a new skill, tries a new movement, or hits a PR. It is not only exciting to watch, but it motivates me more.
My teenage years were characterized by getting good, but never pushing past good to be great. This is where I got past in sports and in my career. I was either afraid to fail or did not take the initiative to find the next level or the next gear to push a little harder. That is something I use to drive myself and l see in other people as well. I try to find that spark in each person that initiates that change. It is different for all of us, but finding that trigger and seeing the excitement level people get by turning it up a notch is such a satisfying piece of what we do here.
My passion is to be around people who want to make others better. I feel like our environment is perfect to see who has that drive to be 1% better every day. If you have that spark and want to get better, we will help you find out how to do it.
